:) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) This is a nice book , i like
I find it impossible to pass up the opportunity to read anything with ''Jane Austen'' written on it. I love Austen's writing and I devour the many related books out there. The first book in this particular series is Jane Austen Was My Best Friend, a book which left a huge impression on me last year for being insanely fun and sweet. So of course I was eager to read the sequel and it definitely did not disappoint! Jane Austen Stole My Boyfriend was such a lovely read and I enjoyed getting back to all the delightful characters again. I loved every second of it! I used to adore Cora Harrison's books as a child so its great to be able to carry on to her YA novels. This book is told from the point of view of Jane Austen's cousin, Jenny. Jenny was a real person but her age has been changed slightly and her actual name was Jane but obviously two Janes would be a tad confusing! Jenny is a wonderful and humorous character and it's been amazing to watch her grow and change throughout the two novels. She's engaged to be married to a guy named Thomas but her brother refuses to give them permission. It was so sad seeing how torn apart Jenny was by how difficult her brother and sister-in-law were being about the whole situation. She handles it amazingly well though and never gives up.I think Harrison captures the character of a young Jane Austen perfectly and it's exactly how I imagine Jane would have been. So intelligent and quick-witted with her head in the clouds the majority of the time. Jane provides many laughs throughout this book and is always up to something. She's always thinking of how she could work situations into a novel and I love how she pays attention to other people and picks up on the little things. It's really fun getting to know and I love following her journey to find a guy for herself since she's always setting other people up!I'm also really fond of how this book is set out. Jenny writes the whole thing as a diary and it works really well. We also get to see lots of little drawings to help us picture the scene and this definitely sets the mood throughout the book. Jenny also sticks in her love letters and little pieces of writing that Jane has done to mock other people. There's not a dull moment in this book and I spent most of it laughing or smirking! I would certainly recommend this book (and the one before it) to any historical fiction lovers and of course to anyone who craves all things Austen!
Jenny Cooper is Jane Austen's best friend. Jane has helped her find the love of her life, Thomas Williams. However the course of true love never did run smoothly and Jenny's brother and wife (her guardians) don't approve of the match and plan to do everything they can to stop Jenny from marrying Thomas. In the meantime Jane is flirting with every boy that crosses her path and this action may actually damage her good reputation, that is if some of the other girls in the Assembly Rooms have their way.Jane Austen is one of my favourite female writers and I'm so glad that there is a fine array of fiction surrounding not just her characters but her life as well, for me to enjoy. Jane Austen Stole My Boyfriend appears to be the follow-up to I Was Jane Austen's Best Friend. I didn't read I Was Jane Austen's Best Friend but I don't feel like I've missed out on anything by not reading the first novel. Both Jane and Jenny do refer to the adventure where Jenny and Thomas met and fell in love (i.e. in the first book). It is safe to read one without spoiling the other. This book is directed at young adults. The writing is easy to follow and would speak well to any Jane Austen "novice". I was quickly wrapped up in a story set in the regency period where Jane and Jenny are just teenagers, enjoying the many balls and dances, and for Jane flirting with every boy she can. While I really enjoyed the sweet romance and the storyline, what I liked the best is that Cora Harrison used a lot of facts about Jane Austen's life in this book. At the end of the book she writes about what facts she uses and what she changed to fit within the story. Using real life facts provided realism to the story and this Janeite loved this about the story. All in all I really enjoyed Jane Austen Stole My Boyfriend and I recommend it for all Jane Austen and regency fans. I plan to pick up more books by this author soon.
Quick, easy read, the characters and setting seemed genuine for this period and well written. I found the excerpts of writing from Jane had to read (font-wise) and didn’t add much to the story, I tended to skip those further into the story. I also found the title a bit misleading, I was expecting Jane to end up with Thomas according to the title, and was really glad the story didn’t follow the title. Overall a good, light and fluffy, entertaining and easy read.
